Anime Recommendations

Anime is one of my favorite things to watch in my spare time - other than The Office, of course. I have been watching a lot of it lately, and decided to make a list of anime that I recommend.

1. Death Note

This anime is a very popular one, and happened to be one of the first ones I ever watched. It is a mystery/action/drama mix of emotions that has you hooked from the very first episode. It all begins when a kid named Light picks up a notepad labeled 'Death Note'. The Death Note is supposedly a killing tool, able to kill anyone as long as you write their name and think of their face as you write it. You can even add the way they die, if you wanna be creative. Of course, the original owner of the notebook is a shinigami called Ryuk. Anndd, there is another lady with a Death Note. Also, Light goes by Kira to try and hide all the killings he is doing. This anime is definitely a roller-coaster of emotions.

2. My Hero Academia (Boku No Hero Academia)

This anime has quickly risen in popularity since it came out, and has also quickly became one of my favorites. It takes place in a world where most people have superpowers - but follows a kid who doesn't. Midoryia was born without powers, yet wanted to be recognized as a hero when he grew up. He wished to go to UA which is a high school that helped graduate many many heroes - including his favorite, All Might. Well, one day he ends up getting saved by All Might which leads him down a spiral of gaining One for All (a power that has been passed down through generations!). He now has powers that he can't control, and is going to UA. You get to follow him as he learns how to control his power, villains attack the students, and drama ensues.

3. Free!

Free is a sports anime. Now, don't whine and complain about it being a sports anime like I did, and don't wait 2 months before actually giving it a chance. This anime is shockingly good, and something I think everyone should give a chance watching. It is about a few students who used to swim together that start up a swim team at their school. The problem is, one of the kids that used to be in the swim team when they were all younger is now kind of a rival... His name is Rin and he is at a different school now. The anime follows the rivalry between the boys and shows a lot of the backstory as to why Rin rather not talk to them anymore. It is also very funny, and a show I would watch with my whole family.

4. Your lie in April

This is seriously an amazing anime. It has beautiful colors - ranging from a light pastel pink to a vibrant blue that somehow goes together all so well. This anime is definitely one that will make you cry, so watch out for that. It is about a kid named Kousei who used to be a piano player. He stopped playing piano shortly after his mother died as she was the only thing that ever kept him going on the piano. Yet, when he meets Kaori things begin to change. She is a violinist who needs a piano accompanist to help her with competitions. Kousei likes her, and ends up agreeing - but he is deaf to the notes when he plays. Along with those two are Tsubaki and Ryouta who are also all kind of in some weird love triangle with Kousei and Kaori. It is an anime I recommend to literally everyone who likes music and drama. Or just one or the other.

5. The Future Diary (Mirai Nikki)

This anime has to be my all time favorite. It is one that I can barely even explain without having a spoiler. It is essentially about a game created by a god. Everyone gets their own "diary". Some people have the diary of another person that they love, or people might have a diary of where weapons will be, or what the best escape could be. 12 people are given these self-writing diaries and are told to kill each other. The last remaining person will take the place as god of the universe, and will have so much power. It mainly follows Yuki and Yuno - Yuno being a total yandere who is in love with Yuki. They both work together to fight against everyone else, becoming the powerful ones on the battlefield. It is an anime I recommend to people who care for more violent or action filled anime and shows.

That is all the anime I have to recommend for now. A few quick mentions would be :

6. No Game No Life

7. RWBY

8. Haikyuu!
